And no, this is not my strong point; but it is quite abruptly what I began doing on Friday, with some unexpected logo work for my job, and then on Saturday with the new logo for my site, and again yesterday with the production logo for my visual novel. It all needed doing and I guess it just all happened at once.
I should mention that in each case, I started by using Google Web Fonts as the foundation of the design. I then converted the typefaces to paths, and (in most cases) heavily edited the shapes to be distinctly my own. But there are just so many good, open-license Google Web Fonts, that it'd almost be crazy to not leverage them as the starting point for new work. I really appreciate the resource that Google has created. It solves a lot of issues, is a great time-saver, and a huge creative boost.
